Former Vice President Joe Biden has announced his bid for the presidency in 2020 after weeks of speculation. The 76-year-old, who also represented Delaware as a Senator from 1973 to 2009, will run in the Democratic primaries against other notable candidates such as Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, and Cory Booker.
Biden commenced his campaign in a video released early this morning. In it, he detailed his frustration in current president Donald Trump after his remarks about the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville in 2017, which led to a white supremacist killing four counter protestors by driving his car through a crowd. In the video, he detailed that his remarks “of hatred on both sides” led him to run against him.
Also in the video, he framed the 2020 Presidential Election as a “battle for the soul of this nation,” because of his thoughts on Trump’s behavior and leadership skills. Biden will be attending a fundraiser in Philadelphia later today followed by an interview on “The View”.
