Claire Grady will be leaving her position as Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security effective tomorrow, announced the current Secretary of Homeland Security Kristjen Nielson, who is also resigning after a forced resignation on Sunday. Grady has worked at the DHS for two years, and has decided to leave after Nielson chose to do so.
Many officials are saying that the recent firings and resignations including that of Grady’s is part of Trump’s plan to clean house in the department in an effort to confront the immigration debate with new staff to his liking. In addition to the resignations of Nielson and Grady, Secret Service Director Randolph “Tex” Alles was fired by Trump as well.
Within the Department of Homeland Security, Commissioner of the Board of U.S. Customs and Immigration Kevin McAleenan was chosen to replace Nielson’s spot as top of the department. As for Grady’s spot, a department official said he’s expecting David Pekoske, The Transportation Security Administration Administrator, to replace her.
