FRIDAY – 1/25/19
Former Trump Campaign advisor and associate Roger Stone has been arrested, his lawyer said. His house was raided by the FBI and local law enforcement just after six o’clock this morning. According to CNN, after being called to open the door, Stone politely did so and was soon swathed with multiple uniformed officials, although no violence has been reported.
The special counsel’s office has stated that he has been arrested on seven counts, some of which include obstruction of an official proceeding, making false statements, and witness tampering. Stone began his career as an advisor for Richard Nixon, and since then has played a part in multiple Republican Presidental campaigns.
Stone was thought to be in connection with multiple illegal acts, including releasing the emails of John Podesta, former White House Chief of Staff, and feeding information to WikiLeaks, a company that publishes data and content within the government. Officials have said there is a strong correlation between his announcements and that of future leaks.
