Trump Meets with French President Macron

By Nick Baum

TUESDAY – 4/24/18

Yesterday, French President Emmanuel Macron visited US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at the White House for the afternoon. At the meeting, the two Presidents exchanged a variety of different ideas as well as participating in different activities.

The meeting was also in an effort to connect policy gaps between the two presidents, as Macron was elected as more liberal than Trump. The meeting was also the first state visit of Trump, and had proved overall well as personal chemistry between the two increased.

Many argue that Macron needs Trump and the US as France rebuilds into a better country, while others just argue that they are softening up and being friendlier with each other, despite the differences they have in terms of foreign policy with Iran, as well as climate change.

Trump Urges North Korea to Dismantle Nuclear Arsenal

By Nick Baum

US President Donald Trump announced that when he meets with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, that he will tell him to act quick on the country’s nuclear arsenal. Recent reports confirmed that Trump will urge Kim Jong Un to dismantle the country’s nuclear arsenal.

This decision has come after North Korea announced that they will stop all nuclear tests, and that they are satisfied with their arsenal. Trump will also say that just because North Korea has stopped nuclear tests, doesn’t mean they will be provided with substantial sanction relief, meaning that Trump is still able to put sanctions on them.

Due to the rapidly changing climate in Pyongyang, as well as the demands by the US, proves to be a difficult yet interesting summit. Details so far are still being worked out. The summit is likely to be in May or June, with locations either on the DMZ, a US Battleship, or a neutral place such as Singapore or Sweden.

North Korea to End Nuclear Weapons Testing, says State Media

By Nick Baum

SATURDAY – 4/21/18

North Korean state media reported yesterday that the country felt that their nuclear arsenal has been “completed”, and that they will no longer be testing nuclear weapons. The rogue state stated they will close their nuclear test site, as well as suspend their long range missile program.

The KCNA News Agency, North Korea’s state run media, announced that North Korea will end all nuclear tests, mid range missile tests, and Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Tests. The news has also come out amidst a string of easing tensions, as Kim Jong Un might potentially meet US President Donald Trump at a summit.

The decision by North Korea to end their testing program could also lead to a possible disarmament of their nuclear weapons, but so far only their testing program will end. The decision has also come just six days before a meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-In.

EXCLUSIVE: The Southwest Emergency Flight: What Happened?

By Nick Baum

SATURDAY – 4/21/18

This week, Southwest Airlines flight 1380, a Boeing 737, was in jeopardy as the left engine exploded mid flight, sending metal and shrapnel into the plane’s fuselage. The pilots had to make an emergency landing, and luckily landed the plane with only one passenger having to go to the hospital, the passenger was later confirmed dead.

Inside the plane was a different story, however. When the engine exploded, it was designed not to send debris into other parts of the plane, as the Boeing 737 was intentionally designed not to do that. Investigations are looking into this, as well as the passenger reaction to it as well. A recorded cell phone video shows that most passengers in the video were wearing their oxygen masks the wrong way, as only their mouth, not their noses were covered.

The pilots of the aircraft are being praised and thanked for their skills and ability to land the plane despite lacking a left engine and a damaged fuselage. Southwest Airlines has offered $5,000 checks to all passengers on the flight, as well as offering another free flight to the same destination.

DOJ Releases Memos by James Comey on Trump

By Nick Baum

FRIDAY – 4/20/18

The Department of Justice has recently released a string of memos written by former director of the FBI James Comey. The memos talked about Trump and Comey’s past encounters with the US President. Before, the memos have been closely guarded.

Three Republican chairmen of the House of Representatives urged the DOJ to release the memos early in an effort to limit the amount of effect and opposition the memos might bring. The DOJ agreed with the request stating “that the release of the memoranda to Congress at this time would not adversely impact any ongoing investigation or other confidentiality interests of the Executive Branch.”

Comey has also admitted to being fine with anyone reading, including Congressional Republicans who oppose Comey and his actions. Currently, the memos are available to read on other news websites, including CNN.

Former Mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani, Joins Trump’s Legal Team

By Nick Baum

FRIDAY – 4/20/18

Former mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani, has joined US President Donald Trump’s legal team, representing the President in the Russia probe as well as the Stormy Daniels accusations. Giuliani was accepted by Trump in an effort to close down the investigation and bring it to a conclusion.

Giuliani, aside from being mayor of New York, was also an attorney for the southern district of New York, and helped Trump’s 2016 election campaign. Giuliani also has had a long relationship with Robert Mueller, the head of the Russia probe and investigation. Hiring Giuliani could ease tensions between Trump and Mueller.

Aside from hiring Giuliani, two other federal prosecutors were hired to his personal legal team as well. All three of the members were thought to be chosen by Trump to end the Russia probe after more than a year of conducting investigations, especially as other members of the team have left recently.
